Geeze Louise that week-and-a-half zipped by!
A couple of new sculptures have been added to the shop…
Alister

Nestor
as well as some new Chimians...
A few of them were snatched up
with haste but Bradyn, Marta, Lana and Leigh are all still waiting.
I’ve been so caught up in trying to catch up on what I would
have finished had I not spent a weekend in a cabin in the the woods...
with the most excellent company...
receiving even more birthday treats...
books from Jim
and the sweetest little embroidered portrait of Sebastian
crafted by Ms. Angie herself (That little moth baby was a purchase from project
grab bag that arrived on my doorstep the day after we returned home, all
wrapped in polka dotted paper so it pretty much felt like a gift.)
that I’ve neglected to share the details of my adventure.
Let me take a few minutes to do that right now.
The weather on Saturday was perfect for a four and a half
mile hike. This was Master Sebastian’s very first hike and what a trooper he
was! Don’t let that diminutive frame fool you; no obstacle was too great.
His very first drink from a stream.
He did however, at one point, find himself too tuckered out
to go on and laid down next to the trail for a nap. So Doug carried him for a little while.
We all brought stuff to make pizzas for dinner that night
and the evening involved a lot of game playing and general silliness until we
could no longer keep our eyes open.
Sunday, Jim prepared his acclaimed fried egg sandwiches
for each and every one of us before we packed up and said goodbye to the cabin. We didn’t head straight
home, first we stopped to hike another trail. When we parked I noticed that Jim
and Angie had a flat tire.
Poor Jim.
On the bright side, he had an excellent view!
It was a pleasant hike through marshlands and pine groves and we saw the Sandhill Cranes migrating.
There were soooooo many of them making the most peculiar
noises. That was a treat. But wait, that was not the only treat of the day.
After the hike, back at the lake where we parked, a huge Bald Eagle was soaring
overhead.
No, that is not my photo. Mine was a little...uhhh...less impressive...
For those of you who live where the eagles live this might
not seem like much of a treat but up to this point, I had never seen a Bald
Eagle in real life outside of a zoo so it was a major thrill for me.
We headed into Nashville, IN
for brunch at Hob Nob where Sebastian slept with nary a peep under the table in
his carrier while we ate.
We strolled through the village,
visited a few shops and took a picture of the jail house.
Then set out on the journey home, sore, exhausted and
perfectly content.
